A lovely building. Beautiful soft coloured stone.

Thank you very much Jean. The eastern end of the building dates back to the 15th century. The stonework is red sandstone. It must be lovely to hear mandolins being played here and also bagpipes, - I could imagine I was back in Scotland! I can dream!

Thank you very much Henri. Part of this lovely old house dates back to the 15th Century. The building had some restoration over the years and part dates to the 19th Century. We sneaked into the grounds to take some close up shots of the manor house and gardens.

Have a lovely day and enjoy the rest of your week

Thank you very much Karen. It is a National Centre for Folk Art and the only residential centre of it's kind in the world, concentrating in the main part on the folk heritage of England. They hold courses and events on making musical instruments to playing them, whether it is guitar, piano accordian, mandolin or bagpipes or many others. Song and dance also feature and enjoying the walks in the beautiful countryside.

I hope you are doing well. Have a good week

Wow, what a fantastic place. It would be on my list to visit if I was ever there!

We're doing all right for now. The fires that have consumed a lot of the west coast here have affected us with smoke but nothing is too near, thankfully. They are trying to convince us that they are a result of "Climate Change" however, several people have been caught starting them so the argument isn't very convincing. :-/ Unfortunaty, our governor is not a good guy but we're hoping to replace him in the upcoming election. :))

Thank you very much Rainer. It is a beautiful old building and rich in history. I like that it has for many years been a centre for folk art and would imagine listening to the mandoline being played in these surroundings would be like stepping back in time.

It's a very handsome building Carol. It's beautiful architecture. I thought at first it was in Scotland. It reminds me of some grand building there. A very beautiful PiP!! Take care and have a good day.

Thank you very much Rosa. It is a closer look at Halsway Manor but yes it would sit perfectly in the Scottish landscape. In fact they do have bagpipe sessions here sometimes!! Aah we should be there now but cancelled because of the virus. I am having to take some comfort in watching 'Outlander'

Stay safe and have a great day

Thank you very much George. Yes it does! It is nice that it is in use as a centre for folk art, keeping old traditions alive like making musical instruments and playing instruments like the mandolin, also with song and dance workshops, although I believe the dancing can't happen at the moment.

Thank you very much Christiane. It is a lovely house and it does have it's fair share of ghosts as it happens! There is said to be a bishop who disliked the refurbishments and who is said to pelt people with apples. A monk has also been seen and a womand known as the White Lady.

Have a lovely evening dear Christiane. Stay safe.
