Seit einigen Tagen hat sich bei mir im Garten in einem Insektenhotel eine weibliche Große Holzbiene (Xylocopa violacea) einquartiert. Man braucht vor diesen sehr großen, bedrohlich aussehenden Bienen keine Angst zu haben. Nur die Weibchen haben einen Stachel und stechen nur im Notfall. Ich hoffe, dass die Holzbiene im Photo im Bienenhotel ein Nest mit Brutzellen anlegt und so Nachkommen erzeugt.

Since a few days, a female violet carpenter bee (Xylocopa violacea) has taken up residence in an insect hotel in my garden. There is no need to be afraid of these very large, threatening-looking bees. Only the females have a sting and only sting in an emergency. I hope that the wood bee will create a nest with brood cells in the bee hotel in the photo and thus produce offspring.
