MINAZ #1850
Steam locomotive #1850 was built by Baldwin Locomotive Works (Philadephia) in 1935 (construction no. 61888), wheels 2-8-2, gauge 4' 8½". It worked at sugar mill "Ifrain Alfonso" and is now displayed at sugar mill "Marcelo Salado".

To the left is steam locomotive #1626, which was built by Baldwin in 1914 (construction no. 41746), wheels 2-6-0, gauge 4' 8½". It worked at sugar mill "Jose Maria Perez" before.

Was muss man sich unter "Fireless steam locomotive" vorstellen? Wie arbeitet diese Maschine ?

Eine "fireless" hat keinen Heizkessel, sondern nur einen Dampfkessel, der von Außen mit hohem Druck mit Dampf oder Luft befüllt wird. Kann natürlich nur relativ kurze Strecken fahren.

Ach, daher auch die Riesenkessel - und meine Vermutung, dass man ohne Feuer den Dampf auch nicht für längere Strecken auf der nötigen Temperatur halten kann, hast Du bestätigt...

Sogar mit einem kleinen "Bisonentferner" vorne an der Stossstange! Wobei, allfällige Bisons wurden vorher mit der Anhängerkupplung weggenufft. ;-)
