Tonedal Mill - the boiler house

Tonedal Mill - the boiler house
This shows four derelict Lancashire boilers. The left one (and a further one to the left which cannot be seen) probably went out of use first and are fitted with chain grate stokers for burning coal. The third on the right has Hamworthy rotating cup oil burners. And the most right is a modern Cochrane package boiler. See another version in the PiP. The photos were taken through a broken window.

As always, fantastic photography. The photos of "what has been" are as beautiful as they are sad. They, along with the descriptions, would make a huge and wonderful photographic and historic tome.

Many thanks! It really makes fun to do this kind of detailed research, most often returning home after a jorney. Postprocessing and doing research extends the time of travelling pretty much ;-)

Vielen Dank und schönes WE!

Beautiful images with a slight HDR feeling. Love the colours and I'm fascinated by your knowledge of boiler types.

Awesome detail and colours Berny................and lots more fascinating machinery to look at and enjoy. This wide shot is great for context, but the extra detail in the PiP is superb too.

Great work!
