A participant of the Spartanrace 2016 in Oberndorf (Tyrol, Austria) yesterday afternoon. The event is continuing today. With more than 7.000 participants it is the biggest Spartan spectacle in Austria. Favorite is the world champion Robert Killian (USA). For him the Oberndorf event is the last contest, before the next World Championchip in Lake Tahoe (Sierra Nevada) in three weeks. (This attraction for tourists has started running at begin of 2016th summer season. Instead of the assumed 8.000 tickets more than 14.000 were sold until now.) ~~~~~ Bergfex beim Ausprobieren des neuen Mountain-Cart, mit dem man vom Gipfel des Harschbichl (1.604m) über 919 Höhenmeter wieder zur Talstation der Gondelbahn zurück sausen kann. This picture shows the MTB trail to the Harschbichl (1604m), which is a moderate summit next to the Kitzbüheler Horn. (Right hand within the picture you see the top station of the cable car, which leads up from St. Johann in Tyrol, and the Harschbichl-Alm. This is the place, where the climb to its summit starts. The picture is 2 years old, still without the mountain cart trail.)) Dieses Bild zeigt die Mountainbike-Strecke auf den Harschbichl (1.604m), eine runde Kuppe, die dem Kitzbüheler Horn vorgelagert ist. (Rechts im Bild die Bergstation der Gondelbahn und die Harschbichl-Alm. Dort beginnt der Gipfelaufstieg auf das Kitzbüheler Horn. Das Bild wurde vor zwei Jahren aufgenommen, als die Mountain-Cart-Abfahrt noch nicht existierte.)

Briefly before the summit the trail is easy, nearly like a normal hiking trail - but more airy! The difference of altitude from the cable car to the summit is about 400 mtrs. Climbers take the via ferrata with 150m of altitude. Walkers take the lovely normal trail. On top a recommendable restaurant with typical tyrolian meals is suited. Kurz vor dem Gipfel geht man über leichtes Gelände, fast wie über einen normalen Wanderweg - nur luftiger! Die Höhendifferenz von der Bergbahn bis zum Gipfel beträgt knapp 400m. Davon kann man 150m klettern - wie gezeigt - oder alternativ einen netten "Normalweg" wandern. Auf dem Gipfel erwartet einen ein schönes Bergrestaurant mit Tiroler Spezialitäten.

Sometimes the climbers have to grip a little bit harder. But it's feasible, even for the girls. And there are lots of them climbing. Manchmal muss man etwas fester zupacken. Aber alles im grünen Bereich, auch für die Madln. Und davon gibt es in den Klettersteigen mehr, als man vielleicht denkt.

A following woman at the same place as my wife has been in picture (2), captured from a higher position. The difference of altitude until the alms is about 500 mtrs. Eine nachfolgende Kletterin an der gleichen Stelle, wo sich meine Frau in Bild (2) befand, aufgenommen von einer höheren Fotoposition. Bis zu den Almwiesen sind es ca. 500m Höhenunterschied.
