The Reiter Alpe
The Reiter Alpe (Germany). The forest on these mountains was crushed out almost completely by our ancestors. They used the timber to produce charcoal for the salt refinery in Bad Reichenhall between 1840 and 1929. (The Austrian/German border takes course over their summits.)

Solche Felsstürze finden häufig an Südwänden im Frühsommer statt, wenn Tauwasser des Nachts in Felsspalten gefriert und sich ausdehnt. Das macht Bergtouren unterhalb solcher Wände im Frühsommer gefährlich.
