1984 Porsche 944 - A188 JPB

1984 Porsche 944 - A188 JPB
Spotted this motoring icon in Northallerton, North Yorkshire.

Based on the same platform as the 924, the 944 was produced from 1982 through to 1991.

Cool find and photo Paul! I've run across a few deals on these the past couple of years. The timing belt seems to be the issue which makes people want to give them up.

Didn't know they had trouble with those Norm, but I can imagine if it's like any other car then that'll be a big and expensive job. My wife's Fiesta is about due to get that done and we've been quoted in the region of £300 for the work. :(

Most ads comment on whether the timing belt has been changed, or not. I hear it's one of those jobs requiring special tensioning tools. My cousin didn't have his done and He bent all the valves on his 944. I'd probably yanked the engine out and put in a small block/LS Chevy if it were me. I have not worked on a newer timing belts. I had one on my 1980 Mustang, but I sold it before it needed replaced. Everything else I've owned has had timing chains and gears.

I see that you are also too polite/wary to stray onto people's drives to get the front view.

Too polite Phil. If it were something really special I might have knocked on the door and asked permission, but as it was in this instance I was happy enough with the shots I got.
