ENDEARMENT

No need to speak on regret.
In that shimmering dress you're its wholehearted double.
Tender as feathers.

It's not easy to give up what passes for love
faced with a wall of pink morning light filtered through stands
of mid-winter birches.

You might say it was good
but it couldn't go on. Not in the way that a river goes on -
resigned to the sound of resistance.

Não é necessário falar de arrependimento.
Naquele fato brilhante és duplamente sincero.
Terno como penugem.

Não é fácil desistir do que se passa por amor
frente a uma parede de luz cor de rosa na manhã filtrada pelas verticais
bétulas em pleno inverno.

Podes dizer que foi bom
mas não deve continuar. Não da maneira como um rio passa -
resignado com o som da corrente.
