Holztrift

Holztrift
Holztrift - (Flößerei) in the Kaisertal
The dam of concrete, radius 29 m, height 11 m, was built in 1899 of the city of Kufstein to stop up to 20,000 m ³ water, with which then 50-70 cubic metres of wood on the 5.1-m-long distance came down to the landing in the Sparchen* in ca.45 minutes. With the construction of street and cable car the 'Triften' was stopped in 1956. It had been before a very dangerous and with many accidents linked work.

The concept "Trift" calls the transport of unbundled up raw wood or trunks on the water and is (from linguistic view) from the word "float" derived. The quantity of water required for a Trift and the suitable hydraulic pressure is often generated by a buildup of the waters. Also in the Kaisergebirge (in the imperial brook / brook Sparchen) swimming trunks were moved.

Die Flößerei ist wirklich nicht ganz ungefährlich. Schöne Erinnerung an vergangene Zeiten.
