St. Michael zu Salzwedel
Diese spätgotische Backsteinbasilika wurde in verschiedenen Bauphasen vom 12. bis 15. Jahrhundert errichtet. Ihr 86 Meter hoher Turm ist schief. Im Mittelalter war sie die Hauptpfarrkirche der Stadt Salzwedel. Der hier residierende Propst war Vorgesetzter für alle lokalen Gotteshausmänner, für die er seinerseits auch Sorge trug: Der Fachwerkbau rechts im Bild ist die Kluhs. Hier trafen sich Kirchengemeindemitglieder zu weltlichen Anlässen und hier lagerte die Probstei die Pfründe die als Naturalabgaben wie Korn geleistet wurden. Der Bau wurde 1490 an der Stelle an der vorher ein älteres Gebäude mit gleicher Funktion stand errichtet. Neben diesem zweistöckigen Lagergebäude befand sich auch die 1307 erstmals erwähnte Schule der Stadt. Die Propstei Salzwedels war dem Bischof von Magdeburg unterstellt.

Here parish members met to world occasions and here the Probstei stored the prebend as contributions in kind like grain were performed. This house was built in 1490 at the same place where an older building with the same function stood . Near this two-storey warehouse building stood the 1307 first mentioned school in town also.
