DR031 Empyreuma haitensis

DR031 Empyreuma haitensis
Erebidae, Arctiinae - Wingspan: 51mm.

A large, quite pretty moth, with scarlet underwings found in the northern islands of the Caribbean, and introduced into southern American States. The white spotted orange and furry larvae can be found on Oleander plants. A single individual came to the trap on the 31st May.

Some confusion on species in this genus, depending on who has listed it. According to the Boldsystems database, the species here is specific to the island, and is named as above. My picture seems to match the reference specimen used in the database, so I have now changed the ID. I have not found any key to check my species with, so this has been a difficult visual comparison only.
