08 High Rise Buildings, Panama City
After an uneventful flight, we pass Panama City on the descent to their International Airport. Through the low cloud and rain we see a lot of new buildings now clustered along the coastline.

Hi Don, yes, it took us by surprise as well. We were in Panama in 2007, staying at this visit's second hotel, and can't remember any of these that time.

Sounds similar to the transformation of downtown SF. There was an article in today's LA Times saying that Panama City is one of the locations (like SF) where Asian, Russian, and South American super-wealthy are buying up expensive condos to park their money.

It must be quite annoying to buy a flat with a beautiful sea view only to find another high rise being constructed in front of your view. It looked like some of the buildings are now surrounded by like constructions, so people may just as well have bought a less expensive location. Hardly a good investment then.
