EsMj067 Hyles dahlii Larva

EsMj067 Hyles dahlii Larva
Sphingidae - Final Length: 85mm
Around 20 last instar larvae were found in clumps of Euphorbia bordering the road near a Reservoir on a day drive. Thought to be larvae of Hyles euphorbiae (Spurge Hawkmoth), and mentioned as that in our second Newsletter, the ID has been corrected by Martin Honey (NHM) to be a rarer species Hyles dahlii (Thanks Martin). Six were collected at the time from here.

Thanks everyone! They were an exciting find, and better even when they turned out to be something more interesting than I thought.
