1924 Angerona prunaria ab. corylaria (Orange Moth)
Geometridae, Ennominae Wingspan: 40-60mm.

This large showy moth is locally distributed in the south of the UK, and in Cornwall is usually only found in eastern areas of the county. It is found around established broadleaf woodland, and mostly seen flying at dusk. This particular form occurs in the populations, and is quite spectacular in its own right.

The flight season in the UK is quoted as late June to July, but in Cornwall the main peak is all June-July, with occasional individuals also appearing in May and August as well.
