KS038 Hypena labatalis
Erebidae (Noctuidae), Hypeninae - Wingspan: 24mm.

A single specimen came to our trap on the 3rd September, and was found dead in the bottom the following morning.

Hi Ryan, thanks for the suggestion, which put me on a different track. I don't think that it is the species you quote as the diagonal dark/light division across the fore-wing in H.lignealis is fairly linear, whilst the specimen I have has a wavy dividing line. However, there is a very close Hypena on the Boldsystems database which is pretty close in markings, so provisionally I have named it after that species. This species is reported from northern Australia, so is probably ranged along the Indonesian Islands and up the Malay peninsula as well.
