How can anybody abandon such a beautiful building?

simple, the owners are more interested by the piece of land on which it is built. After many years, the building will be destroyed because it will be too damaged and the owners will build a new and horrible condo building which will bring them a lot more monet than restoring that building. They do it here in Montréal many times.
