Where to Go, What to See?

Where to Go, What to See?
The Saturday Self-challenge: New Year's Eve or something you are looking forward to in the new year.

We have a return flight to Paris in late March until early April. The rest of our trip is wide open. We are having a hard time figuring out where to go this time around. Perhaps you have some suggestions. We are open to anything. A note, we have been to most of the biggies in Spain, Portugal, and Italy. I have a stack of another 20 travel books from the library but I thought that might be overdoing it a little.

Another note, we reached a wind-chill of -40 last night so our trip can't come fast enough.

Erika Akire, Gudrun, Heidiho, Ulrich John and 5 other people have particularly liked this photo

Wow, Pappy, I can't believe how cold it gets where you are! That must be hard keeping your house heated.

Yes, a trip sounds lovely. I would be heading somewhere warm I guess. I don't have any suggestions for you since I am such a homebody myself but I wish you and your wife a very Happy New Year and safe and pleasant travels wherever you wind up! :)

I have never been to Europe, so I also don't have any suggestions for where to go, but you probably would be happy visiting any place that is warmer than where you are now!

A wonderful photo of your travelogues, Pappy; May you and your loved ones have a Happy, Healthy and very Blessed New Year!

So much to see in Europe, Pappy !!! Difficult to make a suggestion as all depends from your taste. Historical places are very numerous, but for the food, stay in France my friend !!!!!!!!!!
Wish you all the best for 2018 and a wonderful trip too !!!!!!!!!!

I would recommend the South of Germany (Munich/Regensburg!), Vienna and Prague. These marvelous towns are very close to each other and show a lot of central european history and architecture, some of the best museums (Art and History), cafés, sights and colorful street life, very good hotels to stay and very delightful meals.

One of my favourite pastimes-planning travels:-) If you are flying to and from Paris you'd probably best stick to France, there's so much to see you won't have time for everything. If you want to see other countries, traveling by TGV/ train will get you to southwestern Germany or Switzerland in just a few hours. The Rhine valley with Strasbourg, Colmar, Basel, Freiburg has one of the warmest climates in Central Europe.
