WP1953 - WPG - THE GENERAL HOSPITAL

WP1953 - WPG - THE GENERAL HOSPITAL
Date: Posted December 24, 1907

Publisher / Photographer: Russell Lang & Co., Winnipeg

Sent to Olton, England by "Helen B." I am presuming that Helen is the nurse in the photo which is glued to the postcard.

Not sure I have that one... certainly not with the addition. We need to put together a list of this series.

Okay. Good idea. When I bought the card (online), I thought the nurse image was part of a "special" print run. Turns out it was a real photo cut as an oval & glued on the card.

How about this for a theory: a home made graduation card?

It could be the image of Helen Beresford. She graduated in the May 1908 nursing class, (at the May 16 ceremony she won the award for best bandaging!) The class spent three years studying, doing practicum at whatever institution their specialty was in, and living at the nurses' residence on McDermot.

Beresford's parents were Dr. and Mrs. Beresford of Marlborough, England. I'm sure she'd like father to see the fine hospital she was working at.

Oh, in April 1912 she married Dr. Leonard Panton of N. Battleford, Sk. Her parents were at the wedding.

Thanks Christian. I was hoping you would drop by and add some nuggets of info on some of these images!
