Das Weltkrieg 2 Museum in New Orleans hat als Schwerpunkt-Thema die Schlacht in der Normandie (Operation Overlord) als Beitrag der US-Streitkräfte zum Sieg über das Deutsche Reich im Zweiten Weltkrieg.
Es wurde zum 56. Jahrestag der Invasion am 6. Juni 2000 eröffnet. Der Bezug zu New Orleans sind die sog.Higgins-Boote - diese Landungsboote (nach dem Entwurf von Andrew Jackson Higgins) wurden hier entwickelt und gefertigt - über 20.000 Boote bis zum Ende des Krieges.
