These are actually climbing walls with mirroring panels on the other side- they catch the setting sun and our passing ship:-)

Reindeer (the small white dots in the bottom half of the main photo, also see PiPs) gathering on the shores of Magerøya.
They are brought over to the island in spring via barge and in autumn (strong and well nourished) swim over to the mainland on their own.
On the Northern Lights Highway
|
|
|
|
The coastal route between Skjervøy and Tromsø is sometimes called Northern lights highway. Most of the time sheltered by islands on the seaward side the chance to see northern lights when the skies are clear is pretty high.
In this case they were weak but still beautiful. If they grow even fainter you can have fun admiring the stars. Exposure time 8 sec for the clickable note.
Both photos taken with Irix 15mm f/2.4- please view on black!

Alternatively- Northern Lights (clickable). I always have a near demented smile plastered on my face whenever they move over the night skies;-)

In the note: stars and moon near Stormolla, the very faint green was visible only on camera

de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vanitas-Stillleben
Vanitas still lifes, a favourite subject of 16th/17th century artists, depict symbolic objects meant to highlight mortality, the fragility and transience of human life, the emptiness and meaninglessness of worldly possessions.
