Rauðihver

Rauðihver
Rauðihver (red hot spring) is a muddy hot spring in Hveravellir (valley of hot springs) high temperature area. Hveravellir lies just off highland road 35 (Kjalvegur) at 650m on the Kjölur plateau between Hofsjökull and Langjökull glaciers. It comprises of at least 150 hydrothermal features and is part of Langjökull central volcano (sometimes also called Hveravellir central volcano).

Rauðihver (rote heiße Quelle) ist ein schlammige heiße Springquelle im Hochtemperaturgebiet Hveravellir. Dieses liegt auf 650m nahe der Hochlandpiste 35 (Kjalvegur) zwischen den Gletschern Hofsjökull und Langjökull und gehört zum Zentralvulkan Langjökull (auch Hveravellir gennant).

Many thanks, Adele! It feels completely unreal, in the middle of the Highlands:-) So far there is only a hut and campground, but they want to build a hotel there:-(

Herzlichen Dank, Heidi! Hier brauchst du 4x4, aber es gibt auch eine Busverbindung, allerdings nur im Hochsommer, ansonsten ist hier eh gesperrt.

Thanks very much, Amelia! It's in the middle of the uninhabited highlands which are more or less a volcanic desert. The mountains roads usually only open in July and close with the onset of autumn. The "shelter" is just a sort of bridge on the boardwalk, but there is a hut and campground nearby- and hot pools to bathe in!

Besten Dank, Volker! Es gibt einen kleinen Naturpool am Fuss von Sinterterrassen, mit einem Warnschild, dass das Wasser sehr heiß sein kann;-) In Island hat es überall heiße Quellen, Bäder und Hotpots, die sind besonders beliebt, wenn's kalt ist.

Faszinierend, Gudrun. Hab solche Löcher in Indonesien erlebt. Allerdings meist schlammig. Muß mal drüber nachdenken, ob der Norden für mich nicht auch eine Option ist.

Vielen Dank, Ulrich! Indonesein ist viel üppiger und tropisch:-) Island ist sehr karg und oft kalt und nass, aber es gibt überall heiße Pötte zum Aufwärmen. Die meisten Besucher wollen immer wieder zurückkehren, aber es gibt auch die, denen das Klima zu harsch ist.

Dein Foto erinnert mich an den Yellowstone-Park, Gudrun. Dort blubbert, dampft, stinkt und schießt es an allen Ecken und Enden in die Luft. Faszinierende Landschaften!

Dort gibt es den Grand Prismatic Spring, den Morning Glory Pool und den Emerald Pool, die sehr farbenfroh sind.
Ich glaube auch, dass all' diese außergewöhnlichen Landschaften faszinierend sind.

Die Isländer tun das vor allem rund um Reykjavik, da zapfen sie Vulkane an für geothermische Kraftwerke! Hveravelllir ist nicht so voll, weil es nicht an der Ringstrasse liegt, man braucht in jede Richtung fast 100km über Schotter zur Teerstrasse:-) Schönen Dank, Uwe!

fantastische Farben in einer herrlichen Landschaft, Gudrun,
kleine rotbraune Quellen finden wir hier im Siegerland auch manchmal,
gefärbt vom Eisenstein, jedoch nicht zu vergleichen mit dieser Landschaft,
