This isn't a trick photo made with Photoshop. Anyone with a camera can make this photograph which appears to be two halves of separate pictures. Note how the coping stone is positioned so as to sluice rainwater off onto pedestrians using the public highway instead of onto the private lawn. That's what I call a violation of good manners.

It's not too difficult to put a date on streets named after the Battle of the Alma in 1854. It was the first major engagement of the Crimean War and was fought south of the River Alma. An Anglo-French force was victorious over the opposing Russian troops.
