The Limbo Connection's photos

This is a new edit of a picture previously posted here. I've cropped out some of the foreground to accentuate the young cyclist taking a short cut across the park, and getting a bit bogged down for his pains. The mist was doing a good job of shrouding the trees but I've made it even denser by, inter alia, making the photograph more grainy. That also emphasises the presence of the cyclist a bit more. I must prefer it to the original edit, because I am posting it afresh. Editing is a whole sub-genre of photography, I find, and it has taken on more prominence for me since Covid changed my habits so profoundly.
I notice that the focal length of the lens gave a full-frame equivalent field of view of 60mm; and cropping it a bit more simply serves to confirm my preference for shooting moderate telephoto.

Lacock Abbey. Before Covid, I spent a lot of time here, always finding opportunities for pictures, but I have not visited since 2019. In fact, I have since sold the camera and lens used to make this photograph, and a good many other pieces of kit as well. (Posted 31 October, 2023).

In the land of the over-processed, converted, and mightily cropped file, I am King.
I told you before: you can't do that.

When by chance I met this Italian visitor outside the 'Red Lion' in Avebury, she was on holiday from her home in Ireland. She was enjoying a glass of real ale and preparing a cigarette. Telling me about her day out, she opined that the Avebury landscape had its limitations. She said, 'You walked a bit, and saw a pile of stones. You walked a bit more and there would be another pile of stones'.
Never before had I heard Avebury Circle described as 'a pile of stones' but she had a point, and she certainly expressed it amusingly. In days of yore the locals broke up the stones to make building materials, and so they didn't overdo the reverence and awe. They probably just said, 'here be a handy pile of old stones'.
Photographed using a Nikkor 50mm f/1.4 AF-D lens on a Nikon D2Xs. Cropped and converted to black and white.

In my limited experience, approaching strangers to take their photograph provokes varying reactions. By far the greater number readily consent. Surprisingly few show any interest in seeing the result.
