Cheap Day Return (Paintbrush Edit)

Cheap Day Return (Paintbrush Edit)
To get UK residents ready for the change to decimal currency in 1971, things were marked in both old and new money for some months prior to 15th February.
This photograph of a railway ticket issued in January 1970 placed on top of the front cover of a 'Nova' magazine of slightly later date was made during May, 2014 with a Micro-Nikkor 55mm f/3.5 AI lens on a Nikon D50 camera. It always looked a bit 'dirty' because of reflection and degradation, and so I used the Paintbrush programme to improve the colour and contrast.

The cost of the ticket was 30 shillings - £1.50. You'd have to go back another 40 yeas I guess to get that journey for four bob.
