'A Costly Cafe in a Ceramic Carbuncle'
This is the recent extension to the Holburne Museum which was controversial at the time it was in the planning stage. It is described by someone called 'Qype User' on the website 'Yelp' as 'A costly cafe in a ceramic carbuncle with some second class culture.'
The British tend to observe class and snobbery with a keen eye. However, culture has never been our strongest suit. Having said that, I can think of other developed nations - populous, wealthy, powerful - where the attitude towards culture makes the British look quite civilised and discerning.
