Old Owl ^club

For what it's worth, I prefer the monochrome to the colour. The original is just another still life - very "Meh" as my children would say; the monochrome has a sense of - I'm not sure what the word should be: menace? decay? Neither of those is wholly correct, though.

'Menace' and 'decay' sound as good as anything. Visual art has to be tolerant of the limitations of spoken language. I thought 'stark' although it wasn't actually stark. So I made a new edit that was stark and posted it with an acknowledgement to you.

Very nice. I like the black and white better, too. Stark, maybe even a little menacing, but more distinctive and engaging.

Thanks, Bob. I don't mind photographing in colour and subsequently experimenting to see what it looks like in B&W. I am however pretty useless at visualising a scene in B&W from the start. That is a particular kind of ability.
