Childhood memories are a bit random. For a few years our town's branch of W H Smith opened an extra floor to attract Christmas business. This was when W H Smith was an attractive store characterised by low level displays and wide aisles, in marked contrast to today's pile 'em high displays of drab and poorly-presented products.
I bought these crayons with pocket money and have kept them ever since. They remind me of a happy moment and have become a subject for photography many years later.
In this picture the five crayons are superimposed on an earlier photograph of themselves.
On this occasion I used a Nikkor-O.C 35mm f/2 lens on a Nikon D700.
