White-Winged Dove - Zenaida asiatic
The White-Winged Dove - Zenaida asiatica - is a large dove which differs from similar doves by having the prominent white edge on its wings. Their native range is from the Southwest USA down into the Caribbean where they will inhabit pretty much anywhere which can support them, mostly eating grains, seeds and fruits. They will also take pollen and nectar, especially when in harsh environments, from the Saguaro cactus which provides vital water for them. This one was seen for a few moments whilst walking along a trail in Guardalavaca, Cuba.
