Cooking With Crisps (2), c1950

Cooking With Crisps (2), c1950
"Banana Splits: 4 bananas, Apricot jam, crushed Smith's Potato Crisps, whipped cream for topping.

"Peel bananas. Brush with a thick coating of apricot jam. Coat with crisps. Pipe cream on each banana. Place a teaspoonful of jam in a paper forcing bag, remove tip of bag, pipe jam on cream. Serve immediately."

You can see the pie down below crying a river of sympathy tears for its fruity friends.

Originally posted to flickr on Jan. 29th, 2011, making it probably my very first post over there. Still embarrassed, too. But what's done (to a crisp) is done. :P

um, did it feature a banana?
If so, I've seen it. Probably on www.awfullibrarybooks.net

:D

Mostly it was haddock and white sauce. Kind of tuna-casserole-ish but also with that Devil's Tower move at the end where you inexplicably "frost" it with mashed potatoes which you've added crushed crisps to, then sculpt it into a mountain...? (No picture of it in the booklet, thank God.)

Oh, yeah, that dinner table scene in "Close Encounters" where he sculpts the mountain (minus the crisps!)
I remember it well. : )
