Strońsko - Św. Urszula
Stronsko is part of larger Zapolice. The attraction of Stronsko is the
The Romanesque parish church of St. Ursula. It was built around 1250, probably on the ruins of a pagan temple as a small spring rises under the church.
It was rebuilt and enlarged several times. The oldest part of the building is the semicircular apse with ceramic frieze. A zoomorphic stone tympanum is set into the church porch. The patron saint of the church is St. Ursula, who according to legends spread in the Middle Ages, was supposed to be a princess. She was murdered by the Huns in Cologne in the 5th century with 11,000 companions.
Unfortunately, the church was locked. The tympanum was only visible from the outside through a pane.
