Dassow - St. Nikolai
A settlement, conveniently located on the road from Lübeck to Wismar, existed here in the 12th century.
After a lengthy conflict, the Bishop of Ratzeburg waived his share of the bridge toll of the Dassow Bridge over the Stepenitz to the Lübeckers in 1219.
The early Gothic Nikolai Church was built from granite ashlar in the second half of the 13th century. The brick church tower dates back to the 16th century.
The church was locked, so I could not see the granite baptismal font from the 13th century.
