CD 219 and CD 183 Hemingray glass insulators in service use

CD 219 and CD 183 Hemingray glass insulators in service use
Pole next to alley between S Mulberry St and S Walnut St along E Simpson St. Troy, Ohio

A unique old steel pole in Troy, Ohio with a CD 219 Hemingray 660 and a few CD 183 Hemingray-71's. Looks to be a 13kv subtransmission line on top.

AstroElectric, Jesse Lor, Power Lines and 2 other people have particularly liked this photo

Now that is what I call a brakestomper!

Thanks David! I don't think I've seen steel poles used for lower voltage power distribution, except for a couple here in Fort Wayne for an interurban line where they just took down the poles a few months ago. No glass, but still neat looking. Will have to post sometime.

More old DP&L construction I just don't see outside of Troy!

This is quite a find! Are there any other old steel poles like this in town?

Thanks! Yes, there is another one right next to it.
Check at these addresses in Troy, Ohio on Google maps (earth).
103 and 83 E Waters St - potheads, color glass, lots of glass.
219 and 207 S Courts St - 13-14 glass insulators on poles.
Many more excellent poles everywhere that I missed when I was there.
I need to make another trip down there fast.

Just did some looking around in Google Street View and it turns out there's an entire line of these steel poles on West Simpson Street, followed by a 13kV/4.16kV substation on Hydraulic Avenue near the railroad tracks. Certainly some good construction in this town!

Thanks! If I make it back down to Troy, Ohio, would you want me to get some shots of the substation?
