They were workers cottages belonging to a cotton mill, they looked after the workers a lot better than many did

A very pleasant row of old brick houses on a cobblestone road and someone clearly takes good care of them and takes time to care for flowers. Living in a country that gets sweltering summers, it seems so odd to see no shutters to keep out the sun ...!

Yes built for works at a cotton mill they had to bring in workers from other areas so they had to provide housing, although child labour was used in the mill a basic education was provided for them, the owner had his own house built next to the mill which was very unusual

A belated HFF Peter. My pink hydrangeas are the same colour as the red ones in your picture, but I notice they are turning brown along the bottom! A nice cobbled path and lovely terrace houses.

If you are ever up north it's worth a visit, it's a long way for me it's near Manchester Airport, no return visit this year hence the tittle. They are about the same colour as mine it only had 3 flowers the bush is very old it was my Grandads he had it in a box in his backyard, I should try to take some cuttings i have tried before but no luck normally they are easy to root. I also have a Hosta that he had in a box threes no sign of that showing its age. I hope you have a nice Sunday Rosalyn keep warm !!

I had a careful look at the comments and your notes, Peter and I can't find out where this delightful photo is from. Nobody seems to have any sense of inquisitivenous about geography! I love this shot and that is more tham enough reason to ache to know where this is.

Hi Andy it's Quarry Bank Mill a National Trust property at Styal, Wilmslow Cheshire if you want to scroll through my photos there are various shots in the mill and the grounds, one of the cottages is open to visitors I assume the rest have private tenants

What an attractive row of houses Peter. It looks like it belongs on the cover of an expensive chocolate box. I love the flowers around the doors and the cobbled street.
