stb - legacy backlog monthly; oct 2023

07 Nov 2023 25
In my opinion, this "legacy decision backlog" built up partly because of covid, partly from the significant increase in applications, but also because the home Office just didn't have enough staff to properly assess each case in a timely manner. Being somewhat cynical, I'm now wondering how carefully cases will be assessed as the Home Office are going to be under political pressure in dealing with this backlog ... . not my image : fair use & public education

sco - lord and lady !

Almost 100% sure that these are Lord Greedy-guts and his mate Lady Quiet. [3 of 3] Their behaviour was exactly as remembered when offered a small amount of bread crust. Since they have survived the lean times of the covid pandemic, and seem to have "got away with it" in terms of bird flu, when we re-start our boating visits as the 2023 refit comes to a conclusion, I'll stock up on some suitable feed for them.

Lord GG having a go, he's a bit out of practice ! Since they have survived the lean times of the covid pandemic, and seem to have "got away with it" in terms of bird flu, when we re-start our boating visits as the 2023 refit comes to a conclusion, I'll stock up on some suitable feed for them.

Emma approached her berth [1 of 3] as viewed from the hammerhead pontoon. Ben is watching "his boat" come back ... he wasn't impressed when he walked down the pontoon and Emma wasn't there, having seen her launched a few minutes earlier.

Emma approached her berth [1 of 3] and just beginning the final turn, the white object to the left is a ranging pole as her high bows make sighting the pontoon less than easy. Ben is watching "his boat" come back ... he wasn't impressed when he walked down the pontoon and Emma wasn't there, having seen her launched a few minutes earlier.

Now fully afloat on Queen's Dock and about to be brought up to the ladder for boarding. The iron oxide staining on the harbour walls is very noticeable as it has been exposed by the outgoing tide dropping the water level.

[2 of 2] Various tracks from twiddles of the boat hoist [one pair of wheels can be steered independently] - plus the drips as the slings have just been pressure washed after the previous launch.

Heading for the launching dock. [the puddle is from the previous boat, she was lifted out to have her bottom scrubbed - pressure- washed & brushed - then immediately relaunched, actually it took them very little time but got a lot of water on the hard ...]

Manoeuvring the boatlift ... nearly as impressive of the multi-wheel road trailers for moving abnormal loads.
