eld - Elsdon Church
This is St. Cuthbert's Church, Elsdon. Much of the 14th century church remains, although it was much modified in the 19th century.
After the depredations of various raiders, it was rebuilt with a stone roof.
It is reputed to be one of the places where the monks carrying Cuthbert's remains rested during their peripatetic wanderings between Lindisfarne and Durham.
