The Mam Tor land-slip was a case study for me as a student, quite a few decades ago.

One conclusion I came to was - do not to try building a major road on it !
In 1979 the authorities gave up and re-routed the A626, after landslips required major repairs in 1912, 1933, 1946, 1952, 1966 and 1974 ...
