cvd - NHS app alerts, July 2021

The rapidly rising number of cases notified to NHS Test & Trace resulted in a huge number of alerts being sent to users of the NHS Covid App. Usually to advise the user to isolate as they had been in close contact with a covid case.
Which is what it was supposed to do.
The media dubbed this the "pingdemic" as it caused no end of problems, with the 10-day isolation periods affecting individuals and businesses.
