The number of new cases detected in the UK during December 2020 and 9th Jan 2021.
[25th December is artificially & significantly depressed]
The UK came out of national restrictions back into a tiered structure at the beginning of December, and at least partially because of the detection of a more transmissible new variant [Kent variant], went back into a much stricter national lockdown on 4th January 2021.

Personally, My household went into full Lockdown mode just before the festive season (21st December / winter solstice) as I could see the case rate climbing, we hadn't relaxed much anyway after November, despite being in Tier4, as we could see the infections were not anything like under & full proper control.
