I think it was a mussel ...he was dropping the shell onto the walkway to break it ..then he scooped out the interior..Maurice.

This is an absolutely stunning photo Steve. Yes the seagulls who hang around my house, tend to bring the odd shellfish and bang them on the roof and eat the innards, Meanwhile the empty shells fall down onto the garden!! Different eh?
