HFF Great Central Railway, Loughborough 15th November 2004
GCR Loughborough station. GWR Manor 7821 Ditcheat Manor footplate from the tender taken after filling the water tank & prior to running round onto our train in platform 1. Albert (ex-Woodford Halse BR shed) driving.
This view shows not only just how exposed the Great Western cab left the footplate crews especially when running tender first but also how sparten they were . In summer it could get pretty warm with that raging fire but tender first in winter it was a different story.
A reboot from many years ago! HFF & have a great weekend.

Sorry I missed this last week.
I must say that I agree with you about the provision of the cab!!
I visited GCR the other week, and was not impressed by all those new houses at the northern end of the line. It really spoils the view!
Best Wishes, HFF, a nice weekend, and stay safe!!
Peter
