This building at the Brunner Mond soda ash works provides a fine view of the Winnington cricket field.

Originally built for the concentration by evaporation of Caustic soda produced by the lime-soda process at Winnington. The building was about twice the length in the picture extending towards Solvay Road. It became largely redundant when ICI ceased producing caustic by the lime-soda method and brought in 47% (100 Twadell) liquor mainly from the electrolytic cell plants at Castner Kellner works in Runcorn. Part of the evaporation plant was then converted for the production of Calcium chloride which was a biproduct from the Ammonia-soda process. Thanks to Bob Hickson for this information.

I think that's the other side of the road on Wallerscote Island.
