Old glass and paper is usually collected in underground containers throughout Amsterdam. Other garbage is also collected in underground containers. However, in this street the garbage truck still comes through the street twice a week until underground containers are installed. In the UK the great majority of house have at least two wheelie bins, many of which remain permanently outside homes and look awful, although not quite as untidy as black bags. The idea of collecting rubbish from underground containers is brilliant and doesn't in any way spoil the charm of Amsterdam. I bet the folks in this street can't wait until the underground containers are installed. A good story telling photo.
