Pigeon Point Lighthouse
The tallest lighthouse on the West Coast, built in 1871.

This photo was taken by a Yashica-D TLR medium format film camera and Yashikor 1:3.5 f=80mm lens using Fuji Reala 100 film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitally rendered in Photoshop

Actually, the only reasonable shot into the afternoon light was within in a patch of shade provided by a tree - only later did I realized that I had 'composed' something worthwhile!

A few years back a storm caused damage to the foundation and the lens and lamp were removed - a replacement beacon (much less impressive) has taken over the light duties. It does, however, serve as a State Park historic center for visitors.
