Happy Christmas Day!

Happy Christmas Day!
A quick posting before my computer freezes! This is one of my absolute favourite Christmas ornaments, given to me by my daughter for Christmas in 2014. It stands maybe 2" tall and is just so cute. She knows so well how crazy I am about mushrooms : ) The only little snowman I have ever seen holding a mushroom of any kind. This bright red one is the poisonous/hallucinogenetic Fly Agaric/Amanita muscaria.

Happy Christmas Day, everyone! Ha, this is funny - yesterday evening, I Googled NORAD to check where in the world Santa had reached. Immediately, I got the Blue Screen of Death - thank you Santa for my early Christmas present. Strangely, though, my computer didn't freeze for the next few hours, unlike this morning, Christmas Day.

For many people, Christmas is a very difficult time, for various reasons. My thoughts are with them and, as always, with those who for one reason or another will spend Christmas alone. To those of you who don't celebrate Christmas, I hope you have a happy day, anyway.

Merry Christmas, happy day!

This is such a nice holiday card, Anne! Tasteful minimalism with black as a backdrop to add drama and contrast. The ornament is TOTALLY cute and wonderful!! Like you, I am a fiend for mushrooms, what a darling gift from your daughter. I don't know if you've been lucky enough to see one of these amazing mushrooms but I have not...they are at the top of my bucket list!

Thank you for the thoughtful post...I really enjoyed reading about that ornament and your thoughts and sensitivity in regards to this holiday. It really is a hard one. It can bring out the very worst and best in people, and I have experienced both on this day. My modus operendi on Christmas is to disappear into a hole and wait until it is over. My extreme hermitism begins just before Thanksgiving and lasts through New Years. Can't stand so much about this time, so I avoid it all like the plague!

I'm sorry you've been having computer problems, oh that is so frustrating!! Hopefully you can figure out what's going on and get it fixed. At least you get a refresher on saving often!

Finally, I'm glad you enjoyed my Christmas post! And yes, we had a lovely, quiet and peaceful day, just the way we like it!

Hope your next days are equally peaceful and happy ones! :)

Thanks so much, Janet! Yes, I know you are very passionate about mushrooms/fungi and you seem to see them much more often than I do. The last four or so years here have been so poor for mushrooms - barely anything to be seen, which is so sad. I think I more or less share your feelings about Christmas. Such a difficult time from Thanksgiving to New Year. I do make sure I get together with friends, though, to do some of annual Christmas Bird Counts, mostly outside the city, driving the prairie back roads and calling in at a few farms and acreages to search for birds (with permission). There aren't many birds to photograph, but I do see the odd barn or two, which I love. WIshing you all the best for 2019, and I am so glad that you have found your passion for photography again : ) Thank you, Pam!!
