Nodding Thread-moss / Pohlia nutans, William J. Bagnall Wilderness Park

Nodding Thread-moss / Pohlia nutans, William J. Bagnall Wilderness Park
Yesterday, 8 May 2017, I was out for the day at the William J. Bagnall Wilderness Park. This is just a very small forest area north of Calgary. The friends I went with are specialists in things like mosses, lichens and liverworts, but also know a lot about many other things. I was expecting to see quite a few wildflowers, but all I found were three tiny Buttercups. It is the wrong time of year for mushrooms - and the birds were almost non-existent, though we did hear several singing and saw one Junco. I came away with just a handful of photos and wanted to get them on Flickr before I start on Day 6 of our trip to Trinidad & Tobago.

This moss and the other, very similar looking one that I also posted tonight, were simply glowing in the bright sunlight. They looked so pretty with their red and green.

Pam J has particularly liked this photo
