Mural at the Brasso Seco Visitors Facility, Trinidad
"Hidden in the Northern Range of Trinidad’s rainforest, Brasso Seco is an eco-visitor’s dream come true where we offer the unique chance to experience living in a rural community. The Brasso Seco Paria Tourism Action Committee (TAC) is a Community-Based Organization run by villagers that seek to develop, promote and preserve all that this beautiful valley and village have to offer. We love to open our homes and hearts to visitors and provide you with hands–on experiences in whatever you desire – from hiking, to cooking, to music, to gardening. You tell us what you want, and we will do our best to deliver.
Brasso Seco is located an hour’s drive from the Piarco Airport and 45 minutes from Arima, the nearest ‘city.’ With a population of around 300, this small village has a few shops in the heart of the village along with a bar, Catholic Church, Primary School, Community Centre, Visitors Facility, Health Clinic and small Post Office in addition to a few host homes and guest houses for visitors. Originally established in the early 1900’s as a Cocoa and Coffee plantation, the area is still rich with assorted fruit trees and is surrounded by pristine rain forests full of crystal clear rivers, countless waterfalls and a plethora of birds, butterflies, mammals, reptiles & insects."
