Eye-catching

Eye-catching
Yesterday, I finally got my wireless keyboard and mouse set up. Both worked just fine. This morning, the mouse doesn't work at all! Luckily, I still have the old mouse cord plugged in. Also just discovered that my HP Photosmart Plus printer will not work with Windows 7. How I wish I was computer literate!!! Much later --finally got a printer driver and got my old printer set up. What a relief and what a performance! Later, again, I pressed the connect button underneath the new mouse and it now works again. Don't know why it stopped working overnight.

This image is not as sharp as it looked late last night, lol! The sun is trying to shine today, it's not cold and it's not snowing, so maybe I should have kept this photo for when our next snowfall happens. Too late now. It's +12C as I type and it's supposed to get up to +20C this afternoon! After that, it looks like we'll be dropping down to around +10C for quite a few days.

I'm always delighted to see a Straw Flower (Strawflower), of any colour. Just fascinated by how perfect they often are when I see them. Love their paper or silk-like "petals", though actually the petals aren’t true petals at all, but in fact are modified leaves called bracts, that come in many colours, including yellow, orange, cream, pink, white, and purple.

Photographed at the Reader Rock Garden on 29 August 2013.

"Xerochrysum bracteatum, commonly known as the golden everlasting or strawflower, is a flowering plant in the family Asteraceae native to Australia." From Wikipedia.
