Bowing their frosty heads
Footsteps
Birders birding
Known as dedication :)
The magic of ice
Little bird in a big world
Winter magic down by the creek
Fragile frost formation
Ice is nice
Moose youngster
Common Tansy in winter
Frozen lace
Winter spikes and curves
Edged in frost
Here today, gone tomorrow
A black and white world
Frosted snow
Delicate winter beauty
Fog is not good for birding
Hoar frost everywhere you look
Hoar frost on barbed-wire
A curtain of hoar frost
Hoar frost
Delicate hoar frost
Diamond-studded
Guarding the barn
A splash of much-needed red
On a bitterly cold, hoar frosty day
Old barns in heavy frost
White beauty
High wire act
Winter wonderland with a bonus
Winter on the prairies
A fence without an owl
Wearing a heavy coat of hoar frost
Short-eared Owl
One of my few Snowy Owls of 2016
Frosted grasses
Winter wonderland on Plateau Mountain
Down by the river on a frosty morning
Lying on a bed of hoarfrost
Birders on an Audubon Christmas Bird Count
When the world turns white
Delicate hoarfrost
Frosted chin whiskers
Horse and hoar frost
The beauty of hoar frost
You can imagine what WE looked like : )
Nothing like a red barn in winter
Who needs lace curtains?
Winter magic
Frosted
Colour in a colourless world
Winter in all her beauty
Before the end
Barbed-wire in disguise
Living in a white world
The beauty of winter
Frosted history

Transformation
Are you ready for spring?
Frosted
Magical
Like gazing through a window
The other side of the fence
Frosted
Crystalized leaf
A fresh coat of white

White-tailed buck in a winter wonderland
After a three-hour walk (which includes lots of stops to look at birds!), I had just left the parking lot at Sikome, Fish Creek Park, when I spotted a Deer on the hillside across from Hull's Wood. Pulled over to take a few photos and then noticed that this handsome buck had emerged from some trees. All my birding friends had already left the area, so I suspect I was the only person to see him, which is too bad. Taken on 29 November 2012 at Hull's Wood, Fish Creek Park. Another grey day today with freezing fog, with all the trees covered in whte snow/frost. Beautiful to see, but wish the sun would come out. It's -11C (12F) with windchill of -18C (0F). Ha, I need to find time to look for a few brightly coloured photos from my archives, to post in between all these white shots! This is our world, though - WHITE!
