First taste of freedom

First taste of freedom
This photo of a little Northern Hawk Owlet was taken on 28 May 2012. I believe this was the first day out of the nest for this little one, so it was still down on the ground, though it did manage to claw its way a few feet up a thin, sloping tree trunk with difficulty. Thought this "look" was so cute, almost like a shy child hiding behind its mother's skirt : )

WOW WOW WOW!!! WHAT A GORGEOUS IMAGE!!! Such a beautiful bird, such an adorable position. And a newly fledged chick on top of it all! I'm in love!! So sweet!!!
