La Plata, Nevada

La Plata, Nevada
A few fragments of brick left at what must have been another building. I suspect the bricks were all carted away for resale during the used-brick craze after WW II.
As the name suggests, this was (purportedly, anyway) a silver strike, dating from the 1860s. ("Plata" = "silver" in Spanish.) However, the "strike" had much more to do with promotion and hype than with actual metal values, and no production took place altho some prospect pits and shafts were dug. Even with the recent run-up in precious metal values, there's been no new activity around the town site itself.
